Tractor Info

1918-1924

By the time Advance-Rumely announced the 20-40 “G” tractor in 1918, the OilPull name had gained the reputation of first-class quality and reliability among its peers. The 20-40, following the same general design as its counterparts, provided an intermediate size large enough for most threshing jobs but without the added size and cost of the big 30-60 model. Weighing nearly 6 1/2 tons, the 20-40 was powered by a 2-cylinder engine rated at 450 rpm and using an 8 x 10 inch bore and stroke. Fuel consumption totaled 4 1/4 gallons per hour under the rated load of 40 belt horsepower. The original OilPull styling carried with it the dependability that farmers required, but by the early 1920s, farmers were looking for lightweight designs that could be used all around the farm. Development of new tractor design brought demand for the heavyweight OilPull design to a halt, so in 1924 Advance-Rumely ceased production of the entire “heavyweight” series. This entire series was available with various options that included various extension rims and an extensive selection of drive lugs to suit specific applications. Also available was a special high altitude cylinder head for use at altitudes of 4,000 feet or more.
