1956-1961

Oliver OC-15 crawlers are listed as being built between 1956 and 1961. The Spot-Turn system, instead of being hydraulically operated was instead, actuated by air power. In fact, Oliver’s advertising brochures of the period indicate that air controls were standard equipment, both on the Spot-Turn and the Controlled Differential tractors. The transmission case wa cast from Meehanite, a high-tensile iron alloy, and the OC-15 used sintered iron clutch facings as standard equipment. In November 1957 Oliver sent a copy of their OC-15 tractor to Nebraska’s Tractor Test Laboratory. The results, shown in NO. 633, indicate an output of over 94 drawbar horsepower and a maximum pull well over 17,000 pounds. The six-cylinder engine used a 4 5/8 x 5 1/4 inch bore and stroke for a displacement of 529 ci. It was rated at 1,500 rpm. The test tractor used an Oliver engine. Weighing about 17,000 pounds, the OC-15 took on considerably more weight when equipped with a bulldozer, end loader, or the numerous other options available.
