During 43 hours of engine operating time, Nebraska Test engineers noted that at one point the battery was discharged due to a faulty voltage regulator, and also that the radiator shroud came loose from the radiator during testing. No other repairs or adjustments were noted. This tractor featured forward speeds of 2.7, 3.8, 5.3, and 10.7 mph. Second gear was used for Test H— this ten hour test indicated a fuel economy of 8.74 horsepower hours per gallon of fuel. Also noted was a rated output of 20.19 drawbar horsepower, along with a pull of 1,978 pounds at 3.83 mph and a slippage of 3.85%. A low-gear maximum pull of 3,441 pounds at 2.34 mph was recorded in Test G. Standard equipment for the C-26 included 11-38 rear and 5.50-16 inch front tires. Also featured was a Continental four-cylinder L-head engine rated at 1,650 rpm and carrying a 3 7/16 x 4 3/8 inch bore and stroke. Accessories included an Auto-Lite electrical system and Marvel-Schebler TSX338 carburetor. Under a Test C operating maximum load of 28.16 belt horsepower the C-26 produced a fuel economy of 10.87 horsepower hours per gallon of fuel—a comparable figure of 10.70 was manifested under a Test D rated belt load of 26.69 horsepower. This was the first Texas-built tractor to be tested at the University of Nebraska.
