Weighing in at 3,578 pounds, the D-26 featured 11-38 rear and 5.50-16 inch front rubber. For the purposes of Tests F, G, and H an additional 148 pounds of liquid ballast plus 900 pounds of cast iron weight was added to each rear wheel, for a total test weight of 6,091 pounds. Test H, run in second gear, manifested a rated output of 21.07 drawbar horsepower, along with a pull of 1,852 pounds at 4.27 mph and a slippage of 3.48%. A fuel economy of 11.1 horsepower hours per gallon of diesel fuel was recorded. In addition, a maximum low-gear pull of 3,406 pounds was achieved at a speed of 2.78 mph under a slippage of 8.94%. This tractor featured a Buda four-cylinder diesel engine of I-head design. Rated at 1,800 rpm, it carried a 3 7/16 x 4 1/8 inch bore and stroke. Also included was an Auto-Lite 12-volt electrical system and Bosch fuel injection equipment. Except for a fuel line leak, no repairs or adjustments were noted during 43 hours of engine operating time. This tractor featured forward speeds of 2.5, 3.5, 4.9, and 9.8 mph. Tests B and C at a 100% maximum load of 28.86 belt horsepower indicated a fuel economy of 10.96 horsepower hours per gallon of diesel fuel, compared to an economy figure of 12.14 at the Test D rated load of 26.05 horsepower.
