1960 - 1964
Oliver 1900 tractors were built in the same 1960-64 period as the smaller 1800 model. Three versions were offered, all using a General Motors diesel engine. The 1900 (A) used a four-cylinder, two-cycle design with a 3 7/8 x 4 1/2 inch bore and stroke, operating at 2,000 rpm. The 1900 (B) was first built in 1962. It used the same Series 453 GM engine, but in this instance, it was a Model 5221, while the 1900 (A) carried the Model 5121 engine. Essentially, the difference was that the 1900 (B) and 1900 (C) tractors operated at 2,200 rpm. The 1900 (A) tractors used a GM diesel engine with a 17 to 1 compression ratio. This tractor was tested at Nebraska under No. 768, yielding over 89 PTO horsepower. This test was run in October 1960. In September 1962 the 1900 (B) tractor was tested under No. 824. This test used the same GM four-cylinder engine, but the compression ratio was raised to 21 to 1. This boosted PTO output to slightly over 98 horsepower. Again in 1963, the 1900 tractor went to Nebraska, but while the subject of No. 824 was a two-wheel-drive design, the latter model featured a front wheel-assist. It is also noteworthy that the 1900 (B) and 1900 (C) tractors operated at 2,200 rpm
