Harold J Silver had a firm order for 3000 tractors for Argentine and a promise to pay as soon as they were delivered dockside. Behind schedule and looking for a supplier, he was introduced to Robert F. Yonash. Harold hired Robert to attend a meeting with the project participants to get organized. When Bob arrived at the meeting, the parties were yelling at each other and found there was a mix of languages and no one had enough languages to talk to the entire room so they had to have translators. When things finally settled, this meeting led to the tractor that was the foundation for the Intercontinental Manufacturing Company. They were to be made of components from various sources. They also produced a diesel version of their tractor, which was Model D-E and D-F.
Formed in 1948, in Dallas, Texas by Harold J Silver and Robert F. Yonash, the Intercontinental Manufacturing Company’s purpose was to fulfill an order from Argentina for tractors. Soo, IMCO changed its focus to defense subcontracting. IMCO had switched its emphasis to approximately 90% defense production of aircraft components by 1951. In 1955, IMCO was sold to an unknown buyer.
