Diamond “M” | 1914 |
The Diamond M was a 55-75 crawler tractor produced by Diamond Match Company, Various tractor directories have this listed only for a short time in 1914.
The “Diamond M” tractor was offered by Diamond Match Company in 1914. It followed prevalent tracklayer practice with a front-mounted “tiller wheel”. Steering waws are accomplished by this method, assisted by a friction steering device. Diamond Match negotiated a deal with an Eastern manufacturing firm through which the tractors were to be cast and partially finished elsewhere. Final machine work, erection, and sales were conducted from the Chico plant. Apparently, the partnership was of short duration.
