The Versatile 145 followed the D-100 and G-100 pilot series. An enclosed operator’s cab provided excellent visibility but still gave unprecedented comfort and convenience. A Cummins diesel engine was featured in the 145, four-wheel-drive tractors enabled one operator to handle larger implements, therefore cutting down on farm labor costs. Their new four-wheel-drive tractors appeared in 1966. These tractors were constructed of Versatile designed components, utilizing heavy-duty axles and transmissions. Two models, the D-100 and G-100 were built. The difference between the two rested in the engines. Both styles sold in sufficient numbers to firmly establish Versatile in the tractor industry. Versatile announced their Series 2 tractors in 1976. This series included all past models, the 700, 800, 850, and 900, with a new addition, the Model 75. The engines remained the same as before, with no change in horsepower ratings.
