The W-6 was a standard tread tractor manufactured in Rock Island, Illinois. It was available with two engine options, the International Harvester 4.1L four-cylinder distillate engine or the International Harvester 4.1L four-cylinder gasoline engine. Both engine types were 4×2 2WD with manual steering, five-speed sliding gear transmission, and an open operator station. It had a WD-6 diesel variant, as well as an I-6 industrial and an M row crop model. It was the standard tread version of the Farmall M.
