This tractor was known for it ability to pull 3 to 4 14in plows. It had a 5-speed transmission and could reach speeds up to 15 to 20 mph. It originally sold new for $1,800. The Minneapolis-Moline Model U Standard-Tread series was first sold in 1940 and remained in production until 1953. It used the same Minneapolis-built four-cylinder engine as found in other models of the U series tractors.
