At a Test D rated belt load of 56.56 horsepower, the T55 achieved a fuel economy of 16.77 horsepower hours per gallon of diesel fuel. This figure slipped very slightly to stand at 16.55 under a 100% maximum belt load of 63.86 horsepower. Test L indicated that 109% of rated-speed torque was available in a range from 65% down to 55% of the rated 1,800 rpm. Features included the company’s own four-cylinder diesel engine with a 4 1/8 x 5 1/8 inch bore and stroke for a 273.6 CID. No repairs or adjustments were noted during 47 hours of running time. Using low gear, the T55 achieved a maximum drawbar pull of 8,022 pounds at 2.2 mph with slippage of 13.88%. Standard equipment included 14-34 rear and 7.50-18 inch front tires, along with forward speeds of 2.46, 3.96, 4.92, 9.02, and 17.2 mph. Third gear was used for the ten-hour run of Test H, made at a rated drawbar load of 44.58 horsepower. Pulling a load of 3,455 pounds at 4.84 mph against slippage of 4.09%, the T55 achieved a drawbar fuel economy of 15.2 horsepower hours per gallon of diesel fuel.
