Tractor Info

1912-1914

Tractor builders used every kind of engine and drive arrangement imaginable. The Ajax was no exception with its four-cylinder opposed engine mounted in line with the frame. From 1912 to 1914, Ajax produced this “No. 1” tractor with four 6 x 8-inch cylinders. It weighed 16,000 pounds. Ajax also built a “No. 2” tractor of similar design. It used a horizontal four-cylinder double-opposed motor like the No. 1 model, but the cylinders had a 7-inch bore and 10-inch stroke. This outfit tipped the scales at 26,000 pounds.
