Tractor Info

1919

Indiana offered its version of the ideal tractor in 1919. Admittedly, there was strong competition, but this machine stood the test for several years. It was tested in Nebraska in September 1920 (Test No. 62) and showed 11.34 BHP and 5.66 horses at the drawbar. It was capable of handling one 16-inch plow, a two-row cultivator, and other implements of similar size. Weight was 2,200 pounds. Lightweight, front-end-drive tractors such as Indiana were none too good on backing up with a heavy load because the back end reared up — a hazardous situation with lightweight implements.
