Model Information
1952-1956
A General Motors two-cylinder, two-cycle diesel engine was featured in the Harris tractor shown here. Rated at 1,800 rpm, it carried a 4 1/2 x 5-inch bore and stroke with a 142 CID. Since no belt pulley was available, neither is any data regarding brake horsepower economy or maximum engine torque. Standard equipment for this tractor included four 13-24 tires, along with forward speeds of 2.16, 3.41, 4.79, and 13.86 mph. While the bare tractor weighed 6,173 pounds, additional weight was added to both the front and rear wheels for a total tractor weight of 10,445 pounds during Tests F, G, and H. The latter test, run in third gear, indicated a rated drawbar output of 34.33 horsepower, along with a pull of 2,788 pounds at 4.62 mph and a slippage of 5.07%. Fuel economy in this test came to 10.26 horsepower hours per gallon. A low-gear maximum pull of 6,528 pounds was recorded in the combined Test F and Test G. No repairs or adjustments were noted during 28 hours of operating time.
