Model Information
1969-1974
Opening the 1972 testing season came another German-built model of air-cooled engine design. Rated at 2,300 rpm, the 60 06 used a 3.94 x 4.72 inch, four-cylinder, 230 cubic inch engine. At rated engine speed, 66.25 maximum PTO horsepower was observed, as was an economy of 15.00 horsepower hours per gallon of fuel. With a 1,000 rpm PTO speed and a corresponding crankshaft speed of 2,167 rpm, 63.93 PTO horsepower appeared and an economy of 15.26 horsepower hours per gallon was achieved. Following the PTO runs it was necessary to tighten the exhaust riser, but with this exception, no repairs or adjustments were reported during 49 1/2 hours of operating time. The constant mesh, selective gear fixed-ratio transmission offered twelve forward speeds ranging from 1.37 to 15.16 mph. Standard equipment included 18.4-30 rear and 7.50-16 inch front tires. Bare tractor weight was 6,331 pounds, but this was increased to a test weight of 11,250 pounds by the addition of front and rear ballast. Seventh gear was used for the two-hour economy run. At 57.71 maximum available drawbar horsepower, fuel economy was recorded at 13.02 horsepower hours per gallon. Also witnessed in this test was a pull of 4,330 pounds at 5.00 mph with slippage totaling 6.67%. The ten-hour run at 75% pull saw an economy of 13.64 horsepower hours per gallon with an output of 45.56 horsepower. Other data includes a pull of 3,217 pounds at 5.31 mph and slippage of 4.83%.
