“Common Sense” was the original V-8 tractor. Its 3 1/4 inch bore and 5-inch stroke yielded 20 drawbar and 40 belt horsepower at a speed of 1200 RPM. To meet emergencies, the engine could be revved up to get over 70 BHP. A full pressure oiling system with a drilled crankshaft operated at 25 PSI. A red frame and wheels topped off by a yellow hood and wheel cover gave an attractive appearance. Two forward speeds were available, up to 3 1/2 MPH, along with one reverse. The total weight was 6,000 pounds. Toward the end of production, the Common Sense tractor sold at $ 2,200.
