Shortly after the unifacation of the Modern Deere and Co. in 1912, John Deere began developement of thier own tractor design. Mr. Joseph Dain was put in charge of R and D on the project and the results of his efforts brought the All Wheel Drive to market. Special Note: It was at the same Board of Directors meeting that voted on to purchase the Waterloo Gasoline Traction Engine Company it also voted to produce no more than 100 All Wheel Drive tractors in Moline IL.
