The MF 40 was an industrial tractor with either a Perkins 2.5L three-cylinder diesel or a Perkins 2.5L three-cylinder gasoline 4×2 2WD engine. Transmissions were either six-speed manual shutte, four-speed torque converter, or six-speed. It had a hand-operated mechanical rear differential lock, hydrostatic power steering, dual disc brakes, and an open operator station. ROPS and cab were optional.
