The White 2-85 featured a six-cylinder diesel engine with a 3.875 x 5.000 bore and stroke, & and a compression ratio of 16.1:1. The 2-85 was naturally aspirated. The engine featured shallow bowl combustion chambers and pistons with three compression rings and one chrome-plated oil ring. For increased traction, a direct-drive, four-wheel-drive front axle was optionally available. Other options included a hydraulic-shift transmission, wide swing drawbar, cab, and air conditioning.
