Model Information
1965 - 1969
Between 1965 to 1969, the Oliver 1550 delivered 53 Certifided PTO Horsepower using gasoline or diesel engines, and 51 horsepower on LP-gas. All three models carried a six-cylinder, 232 ci engine with a 3 5/8 x 3 3/4 inch bore and stroke. Rater speed was 2,200 rpm. The gasoline model used an 8 to 1 compression ratio, and this was raised to 8.75 for the LP-gas model. Diesel engines were designed with a 16.5 to 1 compression ratio. Oliver 1550 diesel tractors were priced at $6,525 compared to $5,850 for the gasoline model. However, an LP-gas conversion added $425 to the price of the gasoline style. The 1550 gasoline tractor was tested at Nebraska under No. 943, and the diesel model appears in Test No. 944. With an optional transmission and the Hydra-Power drive, up to twelve forward speeds were available, ranging all the way from 1.8 to 13.6 mph. A considerable overlap provided just the right speed for virtually any kind of drawbar work.
