The 1550 was a row crop tractor manufactured in Charles City, Iowa. It was the same as the Oliver 1550 and was available in a Row-crop model with a tricycle front, single front, or adjustable wide front. Also available was a wheatland standard front and utility, low clearance model. It had three engine options, an Oliver 3.8L six-cylinder diesel, an Oliver 3.8L six-cylinder gasoline, and an Oliver 3.8L six-cylinder LP gas. All were 4×2 2WD with power assist steering, disc brakes, twelve-speed partial power shift transmission, or six-speed unsynchronized gear transmission, and an open operator station with an optional Oliver Continental cab.
