AB volvo was in to tractor and machinery world for a short time. They were eventually sold to Valmet which operated in the tractor world as Volvo BM Valmet. The Volvo construction business lasted until 1985.

Around 1943 Volvo entered the tractor market when they teamed up with Bolinder-Munktell. In the 1950’s the company was sold to Volvo Ag and the company was then known as Bolinder-Munktell. The name was then shortened to BM Volvo in 1963. Valmet bought Volvo BM Tractor Manufacturing in 1985.
