Four Drive Tractor Co.

The Four Drive Tractor appeared about 1916. Known as the Fitch FWD tractor, it was built with few changes until between 1928 and 1930. A 20-36 model with a larger and heavier frame appeared in 1920.

John H. Fitch formed the Four Drive Tractor Company in November 1915, in Ludington, Michigan. Unfortunately, Mr. Fitch died suddenly in November of 1916. The vice-president of the company, Elbert Jenkins, was elected as the new president. The struggle to make a profit as the tractors were selling barely above the cost of manufacturing led to the demise of the company after the Stock Market Crash of 1929.
