A small tractor was offered in 1916 by Standard-Detroit Tractor Company. The Standard-Detroit was shown at many of the 1916 tractor demonstrations, but didn’t enjoy a great success in spite of its good performance. The poor sales performance of the Standard-Detroit tractor was more than offset by their “Tracford” tractor attachment. It was designed specifically for Henry Ford’s Model T. A great many of these attachments were advertised, but the Tracford was probably the best known of all. Although the idea looked good, it didn’t amount to much, since the Model T had neither the radiator nor the cooling system to tolerate heavy work.
