The factory was massive and still holds the title of the largest tractor factory in the world today. Following the Russian Revolution, the Soviet tractor industry experienced massive growth. In the beginning, Soviet tractor production was concentrated at the Stalingrad factory (STZ). As a part of a rebuilding effort in the destroyed city of Minsk, a factory was constructed.
In 1946, The Production Association of Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ) was founded in Minsk. To date, the factory builds 38 different models of tractors and exports them to over 100 nations.
