Farquhar started out with two heavyweight models, built into the early 1920s. The Farquhar 15-25 was a modern-looking outfit. The large arrow mounted on the steering gear hosing was not a weathervane. The narrow front wheels could not be seen from the platform and the arrow indicated the front wheel position, an important feature when working in close quarters.
The Farquhar operations can be traced back to 1856, and a company known as the Pennsylvania Agricultural Works. A large variety of farm implements were built by Farquhar under this trade name, and eventually, the firm was renamed as A. B. Farquhar Company. Ajax steam traction engines, both stationary and traction, became a mainstay of the business for many years. In 1915 Farquhar got into the tractor business for about 10 years. Farquhar sawmill machinery was available until 1952 when the plant was sold to the Oliver Corporation.
