Gehl Bros. tractor was a three-wheeled affair with a wide drive drum at the rear. Waukesha built the four-cylinder engine.

Gehl Brothers Manufacturing Company was founded by Louis Lucas in 1859 in West Bend, Wisconsin. The Gehl people were heavy into ensilage cutters, and after a year or so in the tractor business, it appears they wanted to keep it that way. The decision to abandon tractors and stay with ensilage machines proved to be a wise one. From 1859 to1890, the company name was changed to L. Lucas Foundry. Then from 1890 to1904, it became Siberzahn Manufacturing Company. It became Gehl Brothers Manufacturing Company from 1904 to 1967. From 1967 to present day it is Gehl Company.
