The Illinois tractor emerged in 1918, although some features were retained from the earlier motor cultivator. Power was substantially increased with a Waukesha 4 1/2 x 5 3/4 inch motor, yielding 12 drawbar and 30 brake horsepower. A friction drive transmission provided speeds up to 6 MPH. The 12-30 weighed 3,700 pounds and sold for $1,200.
