A General Motors four-cylinder, two-cycle, Series 4-53 diesel engine was used in the Oliver 1950. This design included a 3 7/8 x 4 1/2 inch bore and stroke, with a rated speed of 2,400 rpm. It was certified to deliver 105 PTO horsepower. Other engine features included a 21.0 to 1 compression ratio and four exhaust valves per cylinder for a superior power level in comparison to engine weight. The 1950 Row-Crop in a two-wheel-drive design was tested at Nebraska under No. 871.
