Oliver 770 Industrial tractors were built during the same 1958-67 period as the agricultural models. The 770 Industrial was of course built over the standard 770 Standard chassis. However, it carries an exceptionally heavy front axle and is equipped with rear tire equipment suited especially to industrial duty. Two transmission styles were offered with the 770 tractors. The regular six-speed style included two reverse speeds and a maximum forward speed of 11 mph. The high-speed transmission raised the speed level in all gears, culminating in a top speed of 13 mph. A 10-inch dry-type single plate clutch was used, and these tractors featured full-time power steering as a standard feature. Diesel models could be equipped with a Chevron starting aid for cold weather, along with a 1000 watt coolant heater. Oliver 770 Industrial models could be furnished with numerous attachments, including this heavy-duty end loader bucket. Ostensibly designed for the heaviest work, it likely underwent tests that strained its durability at times. The heavy radiator guard was a standard feature with this loader, and full hydraulics were, of course, standard equipment. During World War Two, hydraulic systems were highly developed for defense purposes. After hostilities ended, much of the new technology redounded to the great benefit of civilian applications.
