Model Information
1916-1918
This tractor was designed for small farms and was sold as a combined machine of the tractor and plow. The driver had control of the whole machine from the drivers seat, he was able to raise and lower the plow and adjust the depth of each moldboard from his seat.
Initially announced in late 1915, the Advance-Rumely 8-16 tractor did not enter production until the following year. Following generally the new lightweight designs that had entered the market, the 8-16 used a single drive wheel, plus an outside idler wheel, and a rear-mounted support and steering wheel. Shown here with two mounted plows, the design required only to pull two pins and less than two minutes work for removal. Rumely advertising noted that this tractor was equipped with a 4-cylinder engine of their own design and manufacture. Rated at 850 rpm, it carried a 4 x 5 1/2 inch bore and stroke. A single speed was offered, in forward or reverse, of 2.1 mph. Weighing 5,600 pounds, the 8-16 was offered during 1916 and 1917.
