Deutz-Fahr

Early Deutz-Fahr engines were used as horse-drawn generators for power threshers and hay balers. In 1927, they launched their first mass-produced Deutz MTH 222 tractor. Deutz Company converted water-cooled engines into air-cooled ones during World War II for better dependability for military equipment. The air-cooled engine remained their trademark until the 1990s. The company’s first self-propelled combine harvester was presented in 1952.

history

Nicolaus August Otto founded the Motorenfabrik N.A. Otto & Cie. In 1864, it became Klockner-Humboldt-Duetz AG (KHD). Shortly after this, he and Eugene Langen invented the first four-stroke spark-combustion engine. In 1968, they acquired FAHR, which was a leading agricultural equipment company, and rebranded as Deutz-Fahr. They remain in business today boasting more the 500,000 Deutz-Fahr tractors in operation worldwide.
