Tractor Info

1929

The model Z, 40-60 was built in 1929, replacing the 30-60 Model S. Its 9 x 1 1 inch engine operated at 470 RPM as formerly. In fact, the 40-60 was advertised and sold under the auspices of Nebraska Test No. 103 — the same as used for the 30-60 “ S” . Rumely took advantage of the 40.58 drawbar horsepower shown in the maximum load test for the new rating. Weighing 17,500 pounds, the 40-60 was one of the last “ big” tractors on the market. 215 tractors were made and of those only 20 are still known to exist today. The Rumely Z is able to handle ten 14 inch plows and a 12 foot road grader. It is also able to handle the largest thresher built.
