Model Information
1958 - 1961
The 995 models were built with a GM three-cylinder, two-cycle diesel engine. In addition, the 995 Lugmatic tractors used a torque converter instead of a conventional transmission. Oliver bought out the Be-Ge Manufacturing Company, thus acquiring the latter’s Roto-Haul scraper. . It could be matched to the 950, 990, or 995 tractors with good success, although it appears that the 995 was the tractor of choice, due to its torque converter transmission. At the time, Oliver was promoting this pair for waterway conservation work and similar duties. It is an interesting sidelight that the Oliver Chilled Plow Works had been promoting the concept of soil conservation practices already in the 1920s, perhaps even earlier.
